Romanca Society is inviting you to take part in a new initiative called "Saturday Club Project".
We would like to promote a way of social integration of the young members of our community by preserving our cultural identity in the British multicultural society.

On 7 June 2010, HE Dr Ion Jinga, the Ambassador of Romania in London, participated at the conference "Democracy and Memory: Romania confronts Its Communist Past", organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute - London. Panellists were Prof. Vladimir Tismaneanu, the Director of the Centre for the Study of Post Communist Societies at the University of Maryland and Dr John Gledhill, lecturer at the London School of Economics. Discussions were moderated by Dorian Branea, the Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute - London.

On the 25 May 2010, Dr Ion Jinga, the Ambassador of Romania to the United Kingdom, has paid a visit to the Balliol College at the invitation of the Oxford University International Relations Society.

Romanian community in London is invited on 29 May to celebrate together Children's Day and the wonderful world of childhood at the Romanian Cultural institute, 1 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8PH.

The event guest will be Alina Darian from Romania, author of storybooks, who will take the public to the fantastic world of fairy tales.

Between April 30 - May 2, 2010, His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae visited the Romanian Orthodox parishes in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This was the fourth pastoral visit since the installation of His Eminence Nicolae. It was officiated a number of religious services for the benefit of the Romanian Orthodox Christians in the Lower Mainland, as follows:

The Ashmolean Museum will launch its major new exhibition programme with THE LOST WORLD OF OLD EUROPE: THE DANUBE VALLEY, 5000-3500 BC.   This unprecedented exhibition, prepared by the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University (ISAW), has been made possible through loan agreements with over 20 museums in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova.  On display in Britain for the first time are more than 250 artefacts recovered by archaeologists from the settlements and cemeteries of ‘Old Europe', a period of great sophistication, creativity and technological advance in southeast Europe between 5000 and 3500 BC. 

The Ratiu Foundation/Romanian Cultural Centre will host monday 19 April 2010, between 19.00-21.00, a Culture Power Presentation „The Corridors of Power", a talk by Razvan Orasanu. The event will be hosted by Dr Mike Phillips OBE, British novelist, historian and curator and it will be followed by a Q&A session.

The famous writer and translator Ion Milos Conference will be the speaker in a conference called "Poetry, religion and their pain" that will be held on Friday, April 16, at the Conference room of the Swedish Church in Bredäng-Stockholm, from 19:00. The theme is developed by poet and translator Ion Milos.

The Romanian Information Centre in Brussels and the Romanian Cultural Institute present Sunday, March 28th at 20.00 h, at Concertzaal De Bijloke, Jozef Kluyskensstraat 2, Ghent (entrance University College), the concert „Enesco re-Imagined". The event will feature Ralph Alessi - trumpet, Tony Malaby - tenor & soprano saxophone, Mat Maneri - viola, Albrecht Maurer - violin, Lucian Ban - piano & re-orchestrations, John Hebert - double bass & re-orchestrations, Nasheet Waits - drums, Badal Roy - tablas & percussion.

Acclaimed Romanian concert pianist Alexandra Dariescu will be performing here at the Royal Society of Medicine on Monday, 29 March 2010 at 7pm.

At this RSM Music Society concert to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth in 1810, Dariescu will perform a selection of Chopin works including his Sonata no.3 in B minor.

Friday, March 19, 2010, has been one of the activities within each call for help building the first Romanian churches in Stockholm in Scandinavia, action involving 7 members of the Romanian-Swedish Cultural Association Fellowship and its youth organization, "Active Spirit".

Father John Cojanu, abbot of the monastery St. John the Baptist in Alba Iulia, was present Sunday, March 7 in the middle of the Romanian community who attended the religious service at Church of Bredäng-Stockholm.

The Ambassador of Romania, Dr Ion Jinga, will pay an official visit to Northern Ireland, between 11^th -15^th of March 2010, for the occasion of the establishment of the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Northern Ireland and the installation of Mr Declan O'Loan MLA as Honorary Consul of Romania.
